Category:Boeing 757 by line number (1000–9999) and 2 subcats

[edit]
Hi, I don't understand why you changed the title of these cats. They are now out of sync with every other line number category. I would be grateful if you could revert these cats and their contents to what is the standard format. Ardfern (talk) 13:46, 4 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Because the dash is used for intervals, while the hyphen is used for e.g. coordination. In "Boeing 757-200 by line number (1000–9999)", the hyphen in 757-200 tells us that it's 757 with the number 200 added to it, whereas "1000–9999" instead refers to the sequence of numbers 1000 through 9999.
The hyphen is by no means standard. They are still two different characters. One is correct, while the other is not. It's no more complicated than a spelling mistake.
I can move the other categories too, so that everything is consistent, but I will not reintroduce the error.

This is the kind of pedantic nonsense that puts users off contributing to Commons. Right or wrong, it adds no value whatsoever to the categorisation of aircraft. If you insist on using it, please make it consistent across all aviation categories Ardfern (talk) 15:25, 14 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
