I make an alternative for you, I use a string of tools too long to mention. It's awesome fun, I think everyone loves to manipulate space images, although I don't have any liquid helium for an image sensor or lasers to create 'artificial stars' it's fun just the same. Info this image was already nominated, but not featured. The criticized errors were fixed, there is some unavoidable motion blur on the ship's mast because of the long exposure time.

The lighting is a bit flat. That plus the off perspective with the piece of wall obscuring the corner of the fort, makes it rather hard to get a feeling of depth in the image. I suppose a different viewpoint would have been better. --Dschwen (talk) 16:51, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The falconer Ludger Kluthausen do not cut the beaks in his own falcon house in the Wildpark Neuhaus. See his own Harris's Hawk by his falcon house in the Wildpark Neuhaus. IMHO that is not one of your best falcon portrayals (and you can do VERY well). Question I wonder why you choose a relatively low resolution. I guess the bird was sitting on the falconer hand, right? Comment No, no filters were used for this picture. Not on site as not in post production. I took this photo in early morning (about 6am) in very cold morning (about -15°C). I had just about 20' of such conditions, so I was lucky to be there at the right time. Comment I belive you are right – what would be the appropriate procedure for cases like this? Concerning for the photograph itslef: I'm torn here. First of all, the subject is great and the composition is excellent. But then there is the high amount of mist/fog in the air. On the one hand this is – to some point – normal for aerial pictures covering a bigger distance and it makes the paraglider stand out against the background. I've received here and in some other places comments about excessive posprocessing and surrealistic view. Here posprocessing really exists, but is not so much as you mention it. To prove it i gave you link to plain JPEG (conversion+resize only) and also link to RAW+XMP (sorry but xmp is made by Photoshop CC). This is shot in such way. Comment The plain JPEG doesn't have the depth issue and is not oversaturated. IMO, the unnatural oversaturation of the sky and the foreground vegetation is the main problem, and they are not present in the plain JPEG version. A secondary issue is that the clouds look like they have suffered from something like Clarity (LR term, I don't know what it's called in PS) so that they have dark halos around them. --Julian H. Support I like it the way it is. I personally do not see the sky issue raised by Julian. The only thing which slightly distracts is the relatively old car in front of the building (a different car had been better). But all in all the composition is very good most notably the diagonal leading lines, the intergration of trees and bushes with a nice green tone, the street lamp at the right front and,... Support -- The Isle of Arran is known as "Scotland in miniature" because it is divided in two by the Highland boundary fault with a lowland south and a highland north. This panorama shows all of the north of the island viewed from sea. Yes, I'm sure it is a useful picture when used in context with body/caption text that explains what it is of. Sometimes the most useful picture isn't that great a picture. weakOppose: Imo, that's just another typical planespotter picture. We have thousands like this and this very one doesn't really stand out in any way. The quality is good but not outstanding (there seems to be some kind of "halo" around the fuselage, sharpness it OK but not great …), crop could be a little bit tighter at the bottom, the background is dull and the crane at the right tends to disturb the composition. Maybe it's because I've seen too many pics like that and I'm getting bored of them, but for me there is very little "wow" in it. Nearly Fixed. You are right. I reduced noice as far as possible (IMO), but the more I reduce, the more sharpness declines. As far as I can see, the only noise is in the background and mainly between the darker and lighter parts of the waves. I don´t know, wether this is caused by the small DOF or maybe the lens has passed its optimal image quality at maximum focus length. Oppose nice image, but the composition is too confusing. It seems like the fence seperates the pavement from the river, and so it seems odd that the swans and ducks are on the pavement side. In order to understand the image and the situation, I had to use Google Street View to understand how they got there (and I assume they are looking for food left on the pavement). That's not it. What is weird is that the fence seems to seperate the fence from the pavement, i.e. there is no access from the pavement to the river. If the strange stone floor in the bottom left of the image wasn't there, one could have seen that the fence doesn't seperate the pavement from the river, and that it leads to a path along the river (as can be seen from the link I gave to Google Street View). Je suis au pied de l’arbre et la chenille sur l’écorce est difficile à voir. J’avais dans mon sac une feuille de papier et j’ai déposé la chenille dessus. Là on la voit bien. Mais la chenille n’a pas aimé et s’est mise à parcourir le papier. La photo est prise la chenille en mouvement et comme je travaille en manuel la mise au point est faite par la position de l’appareil. F29 est un bon compromis. Je suis un débutant en photographie du vivant, j’ai passé mon temps à photographier des fossiles, des animaux naturalisé ou des œufs… çà me change beaucoup.

But the caterpillar did not like and started to browse the paper. The photo is taken in the caterpillar movement and as I work in manual focus is made by the position of the device. F29 is a good compromise. Support This very rare picture of Nguyễn Ái Quốc, the future Ho Chi Minh, taken in Marseille, France, in 1921, at the beginning of the very first congress of the French Communist Party, of which he is one of the "founding fathers". He was at the moment the representative of the French Indochina. This press picture I've restored has a very high value, and a very good technical quality too. The size and resolution are very big. I understand your argument, but I am of another opinion. Not every city is Paris or London - it is only Bremerhaven :). weak oppose First: The photo has a very high quality particularly for a sport shot. Sport shots are are ofter quite noisy and have low resolution (due to massive noise reduction and/or downscaling). But I am missing something special with this photo here. More a technically autofocus and shutter delay test than a featured picture. I had my initial suspicions that there might have been an overcorrection towards green, but I attributed it to a monitor issue (my monitor has a slight blue-green tint). However, per below it looks like I'm not alone, so Oppose for now. Strong Oppose - The edit has lost the sRGB colour profile from the image. This is not acceptable for a Featured Picture, particularly when the original had one (sRGB). This will cause the colours to be wrong on some computers/devices -- e.g., the grass far too green. Also I don't think we should fiddle with colour on the JPG when we have the photographer here with access to the raw file and a professional colour software (photoshop) with which to do it. Fixed. You are right. I reduced noice as far as possible (IMO), but the more I reduce, the more sharpness declines. As far as I can see, the only noise is in the background and mainly between the darker and lighter parts of the waves. I don´t know, wether this is caused by the small DOF or maybe the lens has passed its optimal image quality at maximum focus length.
